Proceeds from the purchase of this bag go back to supporting the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary and the kākāriki karaka (orange fronted parakeet) reintroduction programme.
The kākāriki karaka is one of Aotearoa's rarest forest birds and is the rarest of the parakeet species. It is identifiable by the orange frontal band which sits just above the beak.
Since November 2021, over 100 birds have been trans located and released into the wild at the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary, allowing a population to re- establish for the first time in approximately a century.
